# Monitore-Glossar: UltraWide

UltraWide bezeichnet das [Seitenverhältnis](https://www.prima-monitore.de/glossar/seitenverhaeltnis) eines Monitors, bei dem das Breiten-Höhen-Verhältnis deutlich größer ist als bei herkömmlichen Bildschirmen. Während herkömmliche Monitore meist ein Seitenverhältnis von [16:9](https://www.prima-monitore.de/monitore/seitenverhaeltnis-16-9) haben, beträgt das Seitenverhältnis bei UltraWide-Monitoren typischerweise [21:9](https://www.prima-monitore.de/monitore/seitenverhaeltnis-21-9) oder sogar noch breiter. Dies bietet ein breiteres [Sichtfeld](https://www.prima-monitore.de/glossar/sichtfeld) und ermöglicht es, mehr Inhalte [horizontal](https://www.prima-monitore.de/monitore/attribut-horizontal) darzustellen. So kann zum Beispiel ein Film im Originalformat ohne schwarze Balken oben und unten auf einem [UltraWide-Monitor](https://www.prima-monitore.de/monitore/bauart-ultrawide-monitore) wiedergegeben werden. UltraWide-Monitore finden vor allem Anwendung in der [Videobearbeitung](https://www.prima-monitore.de/monitore/nutzung-videobearbeitung), beim [Gaming](https://www.prima-monitore.de/monitore/nutzung-computerspiele) und bei Multi-Tasking-Anwendungen, bei denen mehrere Fenster oder Anwendungen gleichzeitig angezeigt werden sollen.
